Grey Days of Autumn

20 years ago I set out to plant a garden.

I obsessively researched ideas to give shape, colour and harmony throughout the seasons. And naturally included a few trees guaranteed to provide a magnificent autumnal display.

In the early years, they were insignificant. The leaves dropped before I’d even noticed they’d turned.

And suddenly this year, I realised they now have real impact. Patience has paid out. I’ve recorded them all, a bit past their best, but blazing despite the greyness of the day.
